Optional: Go Further

This lesson takes the Major Resolve Lick beyond its original position and shows how you can begin turning two simple ideas into longer, faster lines.

Ways to Expand the Lick

1. Move It Around the Fretboard
Take the Major Resolve idea into other areas of the neck. It works especially well near the B.B. Box, where you can really emphasize the slide from the 5th to the Major 6th for a distinctly B.B. King–influenced sound.

2. Create Longer, Flowing Lines
Connect the Classic Major Lick and Major Resolve Lick, then loop between them with small variations.

The goal here isn’t necessarily to create lots of completely new ideas. Instead, you’re developing the ability to flow between a few simple ideas continuously, creating that faster, more “rambly” blues sound.

Try it: Loop the two licks back and forth, changing small details each time. If you’re comfortable playing faster, gradually increase the tempo and focus on keeping the line flowing.
