Move the Minor Resolve Lick through multiple pentatonic positions and connect it with the Classic Minor Lick to create longer lines across the neck.

Optional: Go Further

The Minor Resolve Lick is especially useful because the idea transfers extremely well to other areas of the fretboard.

Once the original version feels comfortable, stop thinking of it as something that only belongs in Box 1.

Ways to Expand the Lick

1. Move It Into Other Boxes

Find the same basic idea in Box 2, Box 5, and other useful areas of the Minor Pentatonic scale.

2. Link Multiple Versions Together

Play the Minor Resolve motion in one position, then immediately continue the same idea somewhere else on the neck.

You can move:

  • Forward through the boxes
  • Backward through the boxes
  • Down and then back up
  • Through the same idea multiple times

3. Combine It With Classic Minor

Connect the Classic Minor Lick and the Minor Resolve Lick across different positions.

This gives you longer lines with a natural shape:

opening idea → movement → resolution

The Main Idea

One small resolving phrase can become a pathway across the entire fretboard.

Rather than constantly learning new licks, explore how many different lines you can create by moving, repeating, and connecting this one idea.
