The Minor Resolve Lick descends through the Blues Scale and uses the pull from the 5th toward the root to create a strong sense of resolution. Along the way, the ♭5 adds blues tension before the phrase moves through the minor 3rd and finally settles on the root.

Anchor the Lick

The lick sits directly inside Minor Pentatonic / Blues Scale Box 1 in B♭. Anchor it to the B♭ roots you already know and see the phrase as a small pathway through the scale rather than an isolated fingering pattern.

Why This Lick Is So Useful

The lick is highly flexible: start it from different notes, repeat the 4–♭5 motion, change direction, or combine it with the Classic Minor Lick to create longer phrases.

To create a more open-ended sound, resolve to the root, then quickly slide down to the ♭7. The root gives you the conclusion, while the ♭7 opens the phrase back up and suggests that more is coming.
